Gintong Pamana in The Probe Theme | A Priceless Filipino Heritage

Gintong Pamana is another excellent documentary episode from Cheche Lazaro of The Probe Team.
It a fairytale-like story of how a man found stuff made of gold - lots of gold while working in a field. It started as a poor man’s story of happiness as he found wealth that could assure him and his family of a better life. A story of greed for some people who have been blinded by their wicked personal interest. A story of trust on how the man trusted people to guide him on his new found treasure - and of betrayal. And yet, of the man’s generosity as he still shared what was left with his blessings to the less fortunate.
But most of all a story that has changed the history of the Philippines. Because the gold were not just a simple story of buried treasures being unearthed. They are buried treasures of our history - a proof of a rich and sophisticated culture of our ancestors even before the Spaniards governed our country. The golds were all intricately and beautifully designed as belt, accessories, “alambay”, jewelries and other things all with the absence of modern machineries.
A rich inheritance that had almost been destroyed by unawareness but thanks to some people who have recognized priceless treasures and made efforts to use their power and money to preserve the -Gintong Pamana.
Although, the man didn’t become a millionaire and the golds are no longer in his hands, but it would forever be in Filipino history - that they were the hands who have unearthed the gintong pamana of our ancestors.
I no longer see Philippines history in the image of the timawa, the alipin, or the anito. The Gintong Pamana although are now revealed and some of them are preserved, still is shrouded by some great mystery of who our ancestors are really are…
