Songbird Show of Regine Velasquez | GMA 7

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

 ate 1

Songbird is the weekly musical show of Regine Velasquez which had originally started airing last May 2008  every Thursday night. But apparently due to poor rating, it was moved to Saturday night, after two weeks.

The show is like a mini concert wherein Regine Velasquez gets to perform with a band of musicians, some guest and is complete with studio audiences. The show is already pre-recorded. The show was an attempt to take late-night viewing to a different level.

Aside from seeing Regine with her signature cleavage-popping gowns, and really short-short hair, it’s good to see Regine perform some of the famous songs of well-known artist but somehow the show lacks some energy that would really kick late night viewing.

Spark in the Blogosphere

Friday, May 30th, 2008

A very noticeable spark is being seen in the blogosphere lately, the commotion clearly is coming from the newest get-paid-to-blog services that had surfaced…the SocialSpark.

SocialSpark has ignited another sizzling debate about bloggers who are monetizing their blogs, since SocialSpark is indeed another site to offer paid posting.

But anyway, I actually don’t see anything bad about getting paid out of posting your opinions on products or things you would like to talk about. Blogging is somehow a sort of expressing personal ideas, so why condemn us who are getting paid while blogging?

That’s what SocialSpark is all about, a way to help companies advertise their products and at the same time helping bloggers earn a decent amount of money. Sort of a virtual Marketplace, indeed. But… as I have seen, SocialSpark is more than just that, because they have at least made things legitimate in the form of nofollow rules on sponsored links and you have to put this cute little badge signifying that “This is a paid post! So what!”

At what’s more? Bloggers have also a better chance of gaining traffic, because from the name itself SocialSpark, they have this thing where bloggers can communicate and form communities with other bloggers. What a wonderful Community it would create.

And, just to bring out the best in you, why not try reading their code of ethics as well.

But as of the moment, my account Rica and my friend Sparker is having the grandest challenging experience of finding a way inside SocialSpark, because I might just say that I miss some of the helpful tips and legends I used to see in the PPP. I just hope as time goes by SocialSpark can be a little bit more user friendly rather than concentrating on putting all these cute designs which actually make things more complicated.

If indeed, it is true that the future of paid-posting is SocialSpark, I think I should now be going and concentrate on understanding the world of SocialSpark. (huh, not an easy task at all… but worth it..

Pinay My Girl | ABS-CBN

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Photobucket

Have you already watched the My Girl pinay version in ABS-CBN? Well, finally I was given the opportunity to watch it last night. It is good that some changes are done to make it more Pinoy , and I actually enjoyed watching the show.

But I think, Kim and Gerald would be more entertaining if they won’t over-do copying the style and facial expression as well as some body language of the original Korean cast. And for one, Kim is a natural bubbly-girl.

And also a thumbs-up for Nina Jose, only for getting-rid of that child-like gibbering voice she used to have before.

All in all, at least Kim and Gerald is proving to be worthy of all the adorations they are getting from their fans.

What Hospital Patient Should Wear

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Being sick are already a bad condition, and when worse things happen and you get to be confined in the hospital, - such terrible experience. You get to be daunted by these hospital facilities and some unfriendly team of nurses and doctors, who almost all of them have this poignant looks of concern on their faces. Although honestly, you know that they are only thinking nothing but your quick recovery. But somehow you cannot actually say to them how uncomfortable you are feeling, especially, you can’t think of the best possible excuse to say to them so that they would allow you not to wear those ancient thing hospital patient wear.

I think it would be nice to wear some of the haute couture fashions available. But then in reality, it really would not be that practical at all, but can we just let fashion and comfort be taken for granted just because hospital patients who wear hospital gowns are just lying in bed helplessly and really sick. I think not.

If only all the hospitals in the world would use these brilliant and genius hospital gown creations of the Spirited Sisters™ and its Healing Threads™ .

Why not, if hospital patient get to wear hospital gowns that are truly sophisticated and comforting. Because they are specifically designed from personal cancer experience by 3 sisters for all patients who need to wear hospital gowns especially cancer patients maintain their dignity and modesty while undergoing chemo or radiation treatments and nursing Moms, anyone with a chest incision e.g. for heart, lung, etc. surgeries, Mohs surgery patients; people undergoing dialysis treatment; back surgeries; and others.

The tops can be used with IVs. Usually the IV is put in after the top has been put on. The fabric, with its Stain Smart additive, allows anything that may drip out of the IV to bead up and roll off the garments.

It is not only that, they also do shipping and they have different styles, colors and sizes to choose from.

It would surely just be a happy dignified hospital days and way to recovery. hospital patient wear.

Hana Kimi | ABS-CBN

Friday, May 30th, 2008

I wonder why Hana Kimi didn’t make it in the Top Ten on TV ratings (as if it’s really that accurate). Although it struggled for several times at 9th or 10th position for several days. I really think the show is hilarious and good (I am referring to the Taiwanese version). I actually enjoyed watching it. But I must confess, I only watched it in the YOuTube.

Anyway, Hana Kimi will soon be ending on ABS-CBN this week and Romantic Princess will start airing in the afternoon shows of ABS-CBN by next week.

Pinay Madonna in UK Hits Again - Wow Pinay

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

THE E-MAIL WAS SIGNED simply: Mado.

That’s the nickname of Madonna Decena, the Filipina singer who impressed audience and judges alike in the reality contest “Britain’s Got Talent (BGT).”

She passed the first round with flying colors and has moved on to the semi-finals.

Since uploading on YouTube on April 19, the video of her performance on BGT has gotten over 350,000 hits.

But Mado had gone through the wringer before hitting the big time.

In a series of e-mails to Inquirer Entertainment, she related a story commonly told by countless Filipinos who have opted to work abroad. Although she often goes onstage all dolled up, life as an OFW is far from glamorous, she confirmed.

Now 32, her first stint abroad was in Singapore, where she performed at Hard Rock Café and Club Momo, her father Rey Decena related in an earlier phone interview with the Inquirer.

Upon her return from Singapore, Mado was encouraged by high-school friend Renz Santos to try her luck in his new home, the United Kingdom.

With a student visa, she moved to Prescot in the UK in 2006. “Being a student, I was allowed only 20 hours of part-time work [weekly],” she recalled.

Back-breaking grind

Since gigs as a singer were all too rare, she worked in a Subway sandwich store.

“I took the late or closing shifts,” she recounted. “I had to clean and serve at the same time. It was hard work. Sometimes I had to drag my feet to get home.”

She also worked at a Choco Fruit outlet where she often stayed for “10 hours straight.”

Dad Rey said Mado didn’t mind the back-breaking grind. “She’s used to that. When she was studying in Miriam (College), she worked as marketing trainee at McDonald’s SM City and acted in stage musicals with Musical Theater Philippines and Trumpets. She wanted to help us out with her tuition.”

Mado admitted that her part-time jobs in the UK weren’t enough to make ends meet. And that inspired her to go back to music.

“Renz found Steve Jones Entertainment on the Internet,” she related. “They were looking for talents for a girl band. I passed the auditions and practiced with the girls.”

But her management company decided to bill Mado as a solo act. “That was how I got a work permit,” she said. “But I had to go back to Manila to complete my papers. So I went home in July 2007.”

That’s the last time she saw her two daughters: Ysl, 7, and Yra, 6, who are now staying with her parents Rey and Tess in their Quezon City home.

Best performer tag

Until the Internet connection in their house was disrupted last month, Rey said that his granddaughters communicated with their mother by chatting on Yahoo messenger every night. Now they just text and call each other regularly.

Between July 2007 and February 2008, when she auditioned for BGT, Mado sang in a string of shows and concerts. She got good reviews from those stints and was declared “best performer” on at least two occasions.

Rey said his daughter was naturally drawn to competitions like BGT because she had joined and topped countless local singing contests as a kid.

“I was ‘Star Smile Factory’ grand champion,” she said. “I also joined ‘Lunch Date,’ ‘Tanghalan ng Kampeon,’ and ‘National Panasonic Quest for the Best,’” Madonna enumerated.

Her background in theater undoubtedly helped hone her skills as a performer, Rey said.

Stage actor and director Audie Gemora of Trumpets points out, “Madonna is a testament to how dedication can one day pay off. For years, she was in the chorus of shows like ‘Lapu-Lapu,’ ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,’ and ‘Joseph the Dreamer,’ but never once did I hear her complain about how small her part was.”

That Mado wowed the likes of judge Simon Cowell came as no surprise to Audie. “She’s long been ready for such a moment,” he said.

Singing from the heart

Singer Celeste Legaspi of Musical Theater Philippines told the Inquirer: “I worked with Madonna in several plays—particularly, for the centennial celebrations (in 1998). In ‘Katy!” she played Mary Walter and in ‘Larawan,’ she was alternate to Mikee Cojuangco. She has grown a lot as a performer from what I saw on YouTube. She always had a good strong voice, but now she sings from the heart. That’s what bowled them over.”

Mado recalled that the BGT audience’s and judges’ reaction stunned her. “I didn’t expect that because I wasn’t able to give a hundred percent that day. I was on my own and not feeling well. I had [the sniffles] and had been crying at the pre-interview. I was trying to control my emotions, but I lost it when the audience gave me a standing ovation.”

It’s time for summer sun and fun. We can enjoy summer just within the vicinity of our homes through the use of inground pool. It is more convenient and safer compared to the beach or other swimming pools since you can monitor your children or love ones more closely and no uninvited guest can go into your house. You can enjoy partying without the hassle of travelling long hours. So you can use the time for travelling in preparing for food, etc. Inground swimming pools have variety of shapes, sizes and depth. Some pools can even be use for physical therapy or for an exercise. By having a pool, you can even teach your children at an early age how to swim. Many toys are available for children and other people to play with in pool water. They are often blown up with air so they are soft and can float in water. Inground pools oftentimes cleaner than the beach. The water is well maintained at low levels of bacteria and viruses to prevent the spread of diseases between users. Chemical disinfectants, such as household bleach and filters are oftentimes used to make the water inhospitable for the germs.
